In general, a degree is a division of a scale of measurement. In
astronomy, the following two kinds of degrees are used in particular:
the degree of temperature. There are different temperature
scales, each with their own degree. For example, the degree Celsius
or Centigrade (℃), and the degree Fahrenheit (℉).
the degree of angle. A degree (of angle) is the 360th part of all
directions in a plane. An degree is further divided into 60
arcminutes.
